Ball Bounce Project
Assignment:
I started animation this quarter. Our first project, the 10 Words graphic (you can view this on a previous post). Our second project, this one, was further progressing our skills on Adobe Photoshop. We had to make three animations, each with the same ball. We needed one just bouncing up and down, in place. Another had to bounce across the screen in arcs. The last one had to have a twist at the end, mine bounced off a trampoline and turned into the sun.
Process:
First we designed the background. I chose a blue sky with green grass for each gif, very simple and it wouldn't take away from the action. To make the ball, we just made a red circle. Then, I edited gradient and shadows on it to make it look more realistic. Next, we laid out where the ball would go. The first bounce was pretty easy because we just had to make it go down to the grass and reverse it. On the Across Bounce, I drew out a path with a marker tool. The arcs had little lines at the top and on the sides; this is where I would place a copy of each ball. For the last animation, I just kept most of the second one. The only bit I changed was where it hit the trampoline instead of the grass again. It then headed upwards and got stuck in the sky. After this step, we had to put the ball. on the paths we drew. To make a copy of a shape, you just hit "option" and drag it. At each point on the arc, we placed a ball and it really looked like it was curving. The last thing to do was make the actually animation and bring it together. I set all of the layers so I could only view the background and one ball and made it a frame. For every single one, I would turn off the ball and viewed a new one in a different spot. Then, when I had done all of them, I hit "play" and my animation was complete. I then exported it as a repeating gif so it would play forever.
